Start your studies right with the VU Introduction Days
This is the ideal way to get to know the university, your fellow students, your student city and to learn about everything that has to do with studying.
Any initial introduction can be a bit stressful, but at VU Amsterdam you are not alone. You will embark on this adventure with around 4000 other first-year students. You will be divided into a group with fifteen fellow students and two experienced mentors—senior students who already know their way around the VU campus and Amsterdam. You can choose between going all in or participating in a shorter introduction programme.
Note: the information on this web page is meant for Bachelor's students. For the Master's introduction, please see here.
Feeling at home on campus and in the city in five days
Take a tour of the VU campus and try out a few sports at Campus Uilenstede. Get to know all of the student associations that the university and Amsterdam have to offer in the areas of sports, culture, religion and fun. And get to know the city better. You can visit different museums, attend a concert in the Concertgebouw or take a boat trip on the canals. During the Comedy Night, you will visit one of the theatres in the city. And you will end the week in celebration at an extravagant party at De Melkweg and Paradiso!
The short version: prepare for your studies in two days
You can also choose to participate only on Monday 30 August and Tuesday 31 August. You will be given a tour of the VU campus, get an introduction to your study programme and participate in an optional programme where you can choose two workshops, such as ‘Study smart’ or ‘Get ready for the language proficiency test’.
