Executive MBA: Leading with Purpose

The curriculum is structured into 6 blocks (see 'curriculum, core courses and learning experience' below). Each block consists of several courses which together prepare you for a business challenge. At the end of the journey, these six blocks will transform you into a purpose‚Äźdriven leader.

Dr. Jost Sieweke

Dr. Jost Sieweke

Dr. Jost Sieweke is programme director of the Executive MBA: Leading with Purpose. He is an associate professor in the Department of Management & Organization at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Jost received his PhD from the University of Duesseldorf (Germany) in 2012. He was a visiting scholar in Vancouver (Canada) at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University (2015), and Stockholm School of Economics (2016).

In his research, Jost focuses on human errors (e.g., error reporting, learning from errors), and individual and team performance (e.g., coordination in teams, team diversity, leader effectiveness). He worked in research projects on the internationalization of professional services firms and human errors in professional services firms.

Prof. dr. Svetlana Khapova

Prof. dr. Svetlana Khapova is a full-professor of Organisational Behaviour at the School of Business and Economics (SBE) of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is Head of Department - Management & Organisation, and Head of Section - HRM/OB. Between 2009-2017, she served as a founding Director of Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI). ABRI caters for doctoral education in management and organisation studies at VU. She also served as Director of Doctoral Education between 2009-2015. Since 2013, she is Director of the (Executive) part-time PhD programme in Business Studies.

Prof. dr. Wout Dullaert

Wout Dullaert is a Professor Logistics and Supply Chain at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He obtained his PhD in 2002 at the University of Antwerp and was an assistant/associate Professor of Operations and Logistics management at the same university for 10 years before coming to Amsterdam.

Prof. dr. ir. Peeter Verlegh

Peeter Verlegh is Professor of Marketing and the Head of the Marketing Department. He holds a PhD (2001) in Marketing from Wageningen University, and an MSc in Food Science from the same university. Before coming to Vrije University in 2014, he was on the faculty at RSM Erasmus University, and University of Amsterdam.Peeter was a visiting scholar in the marketing group at University of Colorado-Boulder, and guest-lectured at ESADE, Prague School of Economics, and SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management.

Prof. dr. Willem Verschoor

Prof. dr. Willem Verschoor

Willem Verschoor (1962) is Professor of Finance and Director of the School of Business and Economics Executive Education in Finance. He is also Research Fellow of the Tinbergen Institute.

Willem has broad knowledge and wide-ranging experience in the financial sector and the university community, as a senior executive, an advisor and as a supervisor. His experience in the financial sector involves asset management firms, corporate finance advisory, investment banks, and their research units.

Previously, he was Dean at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he founded the School of Business and Economics. He has also been Professor of Finance at Erasmus University Rotterdam, at Radboud University Nijmegen, and at Maastricht University.

Willem holds a PhD in International Finance from Maastricht University. His research focuses on empirical asset pricing, international finance, microstructure, financial crises, and risk management. He has published over fifty articles in leading academic journals including Journal of Business, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and European Economic Review.

Elco van Burg is full professor of Organizational Theory at the School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology in entrepreneurship, as well as an MSc. Degree (cum laude) in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from the same university and an M.A. degree (cum laude) in Theology from Utrecht University.

  • Block 6: Capstone Project

    What: Prepare your master piece and leave your imprint on your organization and society.
